'Ahalanui Pond_50192.jpg (647280 bytes) 'Ahalanui Pond is a cute volcanically heated spring fed pond along the eastern tip of the Big Island. The sign made me a little nervous but I decided to go for it. After a quick check for open gaping wounds. Thankfully I was gash free.
'Ahalanui_Pond_50194.jpg (1187145 bytes) I am glad I went for a soak. It was a relaxing, 90 degree body of water. The bottom was a mixture of sand and mud, so I went into tread water mode at first. I then let my husband cart me around. I also noticed a slight sulfuric smell around the H20. If I ever go back. I will probably bring something to help me float in the warm water. As it was, I found being toted around by my husband a very joyful way to spend my time.

A small inlet allows fish access to both areas. The closer one swam to the Ocean, the cooler the water became. Very neat experience.
