2/26/2009 Kite Beach, Maui
My Knees Doth Protest
Yesterday, Kite Beach had magnificent wind and
beautiful waves. During my session, one thing became clear
to me about my kiting style that needs improvement. I need
to grow some balls. Big ones! Being a chicken isn't
working for me anymore.
For starters, I need to ride in the back more where one
can find the larger surf. It is very smooth between the
larger waves. While I have ridden out there many times, I
tend to frequent the less crowded area with the smaller
rollers. The choppier section.
Also, I use those rollers as ramps. Too often I setout
to get some air, once in the air, I panic, I quickly sheet
the kite out so I return to earth. Bam! Mission
accomplished. Back on the water.
Between the chop and the landings my knees have decided
to strike. Either I get it together or they are going to
quit working for me.
I guess I better get it together. The gauntlet has been
drawn.
