1/28/2009 Kihei, Maui

Kihei experienced some more rain on the 28th. We have been in a drought, so this is much desired.

Plus, my laundry needed some serious laundering and rainy weather is the perfect time to do it. Also, grocery shopping. We now have full cabinets and yummy treats in the kitchen.

I forgot the golden rule about not grocery shopping while hungry, so I have a few questionable items staring back at me when I open the freezer.

I sure I will eat it though. Or John. He is like Mikey, he eats anything.

1/27/2009 -- Kihei, Maui

It was rained on the 27th and one of my favorite things to do in Hawaii when it rains is to photograph the flowers.

The cloud filtered sunlight lends itself to better photographs.

The addition of water droplets on the leaves adds extra depth to them.

and whites are not blinding objects glaring back from the photograph. Maui sun, as my sister said, could burn a hole through a roof. When it hits a white object, you better be wearing some shades.

Looking out the window yesterday, I knew it was time. I grabbed my umbrella and went for a stroll. A few neighbors came over to check in on me. Probably thinking I lost my marbles.

But it is just another day in paradise. As rain is rare and much desired in Kihei right now, I absorbed every drop of it.

The Hibiscus seem thankful for the water too.
