alford_candy_40715.jpg (579163 bytes) 6/4 -- I came home from work to find some candy waiting for me. My mother and her close friend, Sandy, visited Mackinac Island recently. They brought back a tasty treat from a local store called Alford's. The store sells Alford's Mackinac Island Original Swedish Fish Assorted. Mighty fine candy. I ended up with a slight stomachache due to it. One shouldn't eat a whole bag at once. I predict I will soon need a little trip to the dentist also. I can't blame this bag of candy though. Every day of my life, I find a bag of candy to consume. It is just my nature. My maiden name, by the way, is Alford. So the present had dual meanings to me.

It also brought back memories from childhood. As I mentioned, I love sugar. When I was 12-years old and packed away to Camp Friendship, my mother sent me a  giant bag of candy via mail every single day possible. I kid you not. I kept it in a shoebox on the top bunk where I slept. One afternoon, upon entering the cabin, I was amused that my fellow campers felt the need to put a stuffed mouse on my box of candy. I was not amused, however, when the "stuffed" mouse ran across my bed and out-of-sight when it spotted me. I didn't really care for that cabin from that day forward.

full_moon_1757.jpg (426652 bytes) 6/3 -- A full moon above our condo in Maui. I thought the image had hope but the Palm Tree leaves seemed too dark and the moon too bright.
full_moon_2.jpg (44999 bytes) I decided to try a new trick I learned from thepioneerwoman.com. What you do is add a new layer to the image.
full_moon_3.jpg (160395 bytes) You can then lighten just that new layer which I did. I wanted more detail in the leaves.
full_moon_4.jpg (153191 bytes) I then grabbed the eraser tool from the task bar.
full_moon_5.jpg (151745 bytes) I started to erase the new, lighter sky. The moon itself needed to be darker if anything.
full_moon_1757b.jpg (596870 bytes) Now, the leaves are lighter, the moon was returned to its original state and I let a few of the clouds remain a touch brighter. It isn't perfect, but I like it more.
