Lanai, Hawaii
Garden of the Gods or Keahiakawelo in Lanai is a visually
awe-inspiring place. Located about 7-miles outside of Lanai City,
it is a must see. |
Even the journey there leaves one
mesmerized. |
John hung out the vehicle to get a
better view and some pictures with the Olympus camera. |
Open plains, blue skies, green fields
are all ones sees when driving down the wide, red, dirt road.. |
Or almost all one sees. I had to keep my
eyes pealed for Axis deer which are plentiful. Two herds crossed
the road during our journey. |
A fork in the road. We went right. The
road is well marked and very accessible I imagine in times of
very, heavy rainfall, it could get soupy, but this is what it
looked like 3 days after the island had rain. Spectacular. |
The road cuts through a small Pine Tree
section |
and then over a cattle guard. |
We have arrived at the Garden of the
Gods with its wild, lunar appearance. |
Boulders of varying sizes lay across the
landscape. |
If one is so inclined, you can keep on
driving and visit the Pacific Ocean. It is all downhill and the
road becomes extremely bumpy after the Garden of the Gods. The
road ends at beautiful, wide, windy Polihua Beach |
