We thought we would head to Hana following the
Southern side of the island which runs alongside the bottom of the
crater or Haleakala Park. It turns out it was still blocked off
after Kaupo I believe. It is still a beautiful trip. The roads are
passable but bumpy. We drove very slowly and made a day of it.
The first image is Kihei from above.
Kihei from Route 37
Route 37 is now hugging the
coast.
Maui's every changing weather. It was
sunny back in Kihei.
Reminds me of photos I have seen of
the Midwest.
The road is passable but bumpy.
We are very close to the water.
Obviously!
This guardrail looks sketchy.
So much for signs. We came to another
blockade up ahead which used a 10 ft. long cement block to stop
traffic. That one worked. We turned around.
