Hookipa Beach Park is considered one of the
best windsurfing spots in the world. Located at mile 9 on Hana Highway it
attracts plenty of windsurfers, kiters, surfers and spectators. On this
particular day, they were calling for 25 ft. waves.... the highest of the
season. The waves appeared to be closer to 15 ft. but still more than I
would want to try. |

Due to the forecast, photographers were
everywhere. One day, I too will own one of those gigantic
lenses. A lens so large I need a monopod to take a photo. |

A kiteboarder tearing over a wave. John wishes to
kite from here in the near future. It is our understanding that
this is a very rocky launch. One kiteboarder, Sasha, showed me
her legs after a day of kiteboarding at Lanes. (I believe Lanes
is the eastern side of Hookipa Beach.) Her legs were torn up due
to the rocky launch. |

This guy had a long ride. |

A section of windsurfers tearing it up. I am
amazed by the air these riders can get on such large bulky
looking equipment. I tried to learn how to windsurf once. I
thought getting the sail out of the water was challenging. |

I like the trail the board leaves in the wave.
